Avalon Center sincerely hopes you, your friends, and your family are healthy during these potentially uncertain times. We’re closely monitoring the spread of coronavirus or COVID-19. According to the CDC, the threat of infection for most individuals in the US remains low but varies by location.
The health and safety of our patients, staff, and communities is our top priority. Our doors are open, and we’re continuing to see patients at our offices, with appropriate screening precautions in place.
We will remain open unless otherwise instructed by local public officials.
During this time, we are asking anyone who feels sick or is having flu-like symptoms, including:
FEVER of 100.4 F or higher
DRY COUGH
SHORTNESS OF BREATH
Or, if you’ve been around anyone with these symptoms, please CALL OUR CENTER TO RESCHEDULE YOUR APPOINTMENT. Please avoid coming to our office in person, and we will reschedule your appointment no earlier than 14 days out.
In an effort to keep our waiting rooms as empty as possible, we are also asking patients with appointments to limit the number of people accompanying you to one person.

Mental Health Services
Avalon center is committed to empowering our clients and their families to identify options while assisting in creating a personal road map towards change. We have licensed social workers and mental health counselors on our professional team to assist in your journey.

Supervised Visitation
Avalon Center provides healthy supervised visit interactions between participating family members and caretakers. Experienced, qualified staff provide a safe and secure environment for children to interact with their caregivers.

Adoption Services
An unplanned pregnancy is often a very emotional, challenging time in the life of a birthmother or birthcouple.
Avalon Center is committed to providing high-quality, confidential services to our clients as they strive to make an educated, well thought-out plan for themselves and their child(ren).
Service are provided free of charge to the birthparent(s).

Mentoring
The Floyd County mentoring program matches children ages 8 to 18 with healthy, safe adult role models. Evidence shows social and educational benefits for youth including improves school performance and reduced substance use. Adult mentors report positive effects, also. Applications are available on our Mentoring page.

This practice serves all patients regardless of ability to pay. Discounts for essential services are offered based on family size and income. For more information, ask at the front desk or visit our website. Thank you.

Avalon Center is a non profit 501 3(c) social service agency that has been in existence since 2000. We have offices located in Charles City and Mason City, Iowa. Avalon Center provides mental health counseling services in our Iowa locations. We also provide private domestic adoption services in Iowa.

Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) including provisional or Licensed Master’s Level Social Worker (LMSW or LISW)
Do you love working with children and adults, helping them achieve their goals? If so, Avalon Center is the place for you! We are looking for Master's level therapists in our Mason City, IA, and Charles City, IA locations. Avalon Center is a nonprofit social service entity and also a licensed child-placing agency providing adoption services. We have a passion for the kids, adults, and families we serve.
Therapists at Avalon Center perform initial intakes, create treatment plans and extensions, provide individual, family, and group psychotherapeutic counseling, documenting these services in progress notes, and case management services in an outpatient setting. We work with clients of all ages.
Need Supervision to become licensed? No problem, we will provide it for you!
